Updated Fact Sheet: HIV Among Women
Approximately one in four people living with HIV infection in the United States are women. An estimated 88% of women who are living with HIV are diagnosed, but only 32% have the virus under control.

Use of 9-Valent Human Papillomavirus (HPV) Vaccine: Updated HPV Vaccination Recommendations of the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP)
During its February 2015 meeting, the ACIP recommended 9-valent HPV vaccine (9vHPV) as one of three HPV vaccines that can be used for routine vaccination.

Precautions and Contraindications: No data have been reported on the use of either typhoid vaccine in pregnant women. In general, live vaccines like Ty21a are contraindicated in pregnancy. Vi polysaccharide vaccine should be given to pregnant women only if clearly needed.
Reportable STDs in Young People 15-24 Years of Age, by State
Sexually active adolescents and young adults are at increased risk for STDs when compared to older adults. Acknowledging disparities in STD rates is one of the first steps in empowering affected communities to focus on the problem and helping the public health community direct prevention and treatment resources appropriately.
Employment and Activity Limitations Among Adults with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease — United States, 2013
Women were more likely to report COPD than men (6.6% compared with 5.4%). Smokers who have been diagnosed with COPD are encouraged to quit smoking, which can slow the progression of the disease and reduce mobility impairment.

Stressful Life Events Experienced by Women in the Year Before Their Infants' Births — United States, 2000–2010
Younger, less educated, unmarried, and Medicaid-covered women had the highest prevalence of stressful life events. Public health practitioners and clinicians can use the information on trends and risk factors for SLEs to determine the likelihood that pregnant women might benefit from screening for stressors during pregnancy.
Invasive Cancer Incidence and Survival — United States, 2011
By cancer site, rates were highest for cancers of the prostate (128 per 100,000 men), female breast (122 per 100,000 women), lung and bronchus (61 per 100,000 persons), and colon and rectum (40 per 100,000 persons). In 2011, the cervical cancer incidence rate was 7.5 per 100,000 women, representing 12,109 reported cancers.
Community Health Status Indicators
CHSI 2015 is an interactive online tool that produces health profiles for all 3,143 counties in the United States. Each profile includes new and updated key indicators of health outcomes and includes teen births, preterm births, routine pap tests, female life expectancy, and more.
Suicide Trends Among Persons Aged 10–24 Years — United States, 1994–2012
Suffocation surpassed firearm as the most common mechanism of suicide among females in 2001. An uptick in firearm suicide rates was observed for males and females after 2007.

As of February, 21, 2015, and based on 3,118 (22.0%) cases with complete medical chart abstraction, among 253 hospitalized women of childbearing age (15–44 years), 67 (26%) were pregnant.

Interventions are also needed to 1) increase the number and use of community resources available to drug-abusing and drug-dependent women of reproductive age, 2) improve drug addiction counseling and rehabilitation referral and documentation policies, and 3) link women to these resources before or earlier in pregnancy.
